We’re really hoping that people will be travelling from far and wide for West Didsbury Comedy Festival 2020! Whether you are local or not, here are some top tips on how to get to us and best enjoy your time at the festival.
ABOUT WEST DIDSBURY
We’re lucky in West Didsbury to live in such a picturesque and leafy suburb of South Manchester.
A much aspired to area, we pride ourselves on being fiercely independent and community focused – making this the ideal location for an indie comedy festival!
At the centre of West Didsbury lies Burton Road. A tree lined, busy street, flanked on both sides of the road with independent bars and restaurants ranging from quirky and offbeat to upmarket. You’ll find a wealth of shops providing delicatessen and craft beer, fashion and furniture, cakes and cards, and community essential amenities.
West Didsbury is home to some of Manchester’s finest eating and drinking venues (of which a number are part of the festival), we celebrate creativity with a monthly Makers Market (This is on during our festival on Sunday 26th), the local businesses come out in force for WestFest, and we truly are a destination for a good time!
If you aren’t familiar with the area, we are pretty sure that you are going to love it! Have a walk around, check out the local businesses and spend the weekend laughing with us.
Public Transport:
If you are arriving into central Manchester there are numerous methods of public transport available to get to West Didsbury.
Several bus routes (journey time from 30 to 40 minutes) operate as frequently as every 10 minutes and through the night. Bus numbers 111, 43 and 143 all bring you to us.
West Didsbury has two tram stops both direct to and from Manchester City Centre. The East Didsbury line stops at Burton Road and West Didsbury, both in the heart of festival land!
Driving:
Several of our venues have free car parks (The Woodstock, The Northern, The Albert Club), although we cannot guarantee spaces. On street parking is available nearby, just check signage for restrictions and park respectfully of local residents. Withington Hospital (actually in West Didsbury) has a car park right on Burton Road and is a great option.
Accommodation
Our festival hotel partner is the gorgeous Didsbury House Hotel. They are offering a 20% discount to ticket holders, you just need to book in advance.
When this is sold out there a few more options in the area locally at Britannia Country House Hotel, Premier Inn West Didsbury and Britannia Airport Hotel Northenden
Enjoying The Festival
We want you to have the time of your lives, but not to the extent that it may spoil the enjoyment of others. All venues will run a strict policy of no talking whilst the acts are on and turn off/silence your mobile phones. If you are deemed disruptive you will be asked to leave and refunds will not be offered.
All of the shows have been hand picked for how absolutely brilliant they are. The vast majority of shows are with TV comedians used to playing huge venues…lets show them how brilliant we are by making sure they enjoy it as much as we do.
Check out something new, sit back and relax…we promise you are in very safe hands!
